At the Farmers we are pleased to offer you today's
comforts in traditional surroundings. The original Inn was built
as a coaching stop in the late 16 or early 1700's and was called
the "Castle Inn" after Comlongon Castle. During its varied
history it was even a Temperance Hotel. The Farmers as we know it
today took shape in the early 80's and is largely on the site of
the adjoining village shop but the old bar area around the fire
is still very much in use today.
We still serve traditional cask ales from some of the country's
finest brewers and have been included in the Camra Good Beer Guide
since 1991. Since then we have served over 300 different beers from
all over the country.
We offer a good selection of
traditional meals as well as a variety of vegetarian dishes. Our
traditional Sunday Roast Beef lunches are always popular and there
are various other specials available at the weekends. Locally regarded
as being of excellent value for money there will always be something
on the menu to tempt you.
Like many traditional Inns all our meals are served in the bar,
which can create a very lively atmosphere especially at weekends.
